Bettina Gensollen Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Born in San Juan Puerto Rico. I was accepted to Johns Hopkins University to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Throughout my first year at Hopkins I realized that although I had always been good in science and math, I was not motivated or certain I wanted to pursue an engineer career. Fortunately through career counseling services and psychological assessments in my university I discovered that working with people was my calling and where my strength came from. Since then I changed my mayor to psychology and got a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami.
Since my start as a counselor I have had diverse experience working with different client issues and populations: chronically mentally ill, domestic violence survivors, survivors of abuse and trauma.
During the last years I have also expanded my understanding of career counseling as a Certified Human Resources Professional. I am able help my clients realistically explore their currents concerns regarding their sense of self, as well as career, and relationship issues.
I believe only by integrating all the complex sides that compose each individual can one achieve a healthy self-esteem and psychological health, finding balance between their professional and personal life.
My personal life journey, my experiences and struggles and professional training allow me to understand and help my clients overcome their current obstacles and achieve success.
During my spare time I enjoy reading listening to music, dancing, and going to yoga classes.
