In psychology, the term self-esteem is used to describe a person's overall sense of self-worth or personal value. Self-esteem is related to a variety of beliefs about the self, such as the perception and value of one's own appearance, intelligence, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors.

A healthy self-esteem is essential to have a balanced healthy successful life: in the professional, romantic, and psychological areas.

During one’s lifetime different experiences can serve to develop or damage one’s self esteem. Many times during challenging times or perceived failures we internalize negative self-beliefs that limit us from pursuing a fulfilling life. These negative beliefs may be conscious or not. They limit us by creating fears and negative expectations and interfere with our ability to achieve our goals.

In psychotherapy I assist my clients to uncover these negative believes about themselves. We explore and dissect their belief system while emphasizing and strengthening the clients’ strengths and areas of confidence. The goal is to integrate all areas in to a realistic, healthy, and confident view of themselves.
